Giselle Bauer
Ph.D Candidate
Giselle graduated from the University of Utah in the fall of 2020 with a B.S. in Chemistry. She joined the Sheldon group in the fall of 2021.
Jonathan McTague
Ph.D Candidate
Jon graduated from the William Paterson University in 2020 with a B.S. in Chemistry, and M.S in Materials Chemistry in 2022. He joined the Sheldon group in the fall of 2022. He is from New Jersey and his interests are programming and watching hockey!
Emma Brass
Ph.D Student
Emma graduated from the University of California Merced in 2022 with a B.S. in chemistry. She joined the Sheldon lab in the fall of 2023. In her free time she enjoys painting, writing, and hiking.
Mara Milhander
Ph.D Student
Mara graduated from CSU Fullerton in 2023 with a B.S. in Chemistry and a Minor in Mathematics. She joined the Sheldon group at the beginning of 2025. Outside of school, Mara enjoys baking, sudoku, cryptic crossword puzzles, and TV/ movies.
Nick Frainey
Ph.D Student
Nick is a Beaverton, OR native and graduated from the University of Oregon in 2024 with a B.S. in chemistry. He joined the Sheldon group in the summer of 2025. Outside of the lab, Nick enjoys cooking, finding new restaurants with friends, and watching baseball and football.
Alfred Arellano
Ph.D Student
Alfred Arellano graduated from his hometown university, CSU San Bernardino, in 2025 with a B.S. in Physics. He joined the Sheldon Lab in Spring 2026. Outside of research, Alfred enjoys lifting, watching movies, shows, and sports, and spending time with friends and family.
Zilong Tang
Ph.D Student
Zilong Tang graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in biochemistry in 2023, and a M.S. of physical chemistry from UCSD in 2025. He joined the Sheldon group in 2026. Outside of research, he likes to snowboard and play with his dog.
Ginghei Mao
Ph.D Student
Ginghei graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in applied physics in 2024 and UC Berkeley with a M.Eng in mechanical engineering in 2025. He joined the Sheldon Group in the spring of 2026.

Macy Weng
Undergraduate
Macy is from Taiwan and is currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. She enjoys playing the trumpet and collecting teddy bears.
Mohammad Alragom
Undergraduate
Mohammad grew up in Kuwait. He’s a fourth year Chemical Engineering Student specializing in Materials Science. Mohammad joined the Sheldon Group in Fall 2024, working with Giselle on the perovskite nano rod project. In his free time, he enjoys working out, reading, and walking.
